Summary

Pre-20th Century

The history of the universe begins 13.8 billion years ago with the Big Bang, which creates six Infinity Stones alongside the emergence of the Celestials. Early cosmic events include Dark Elves thriving in pre-light darkness, Celestials seeding hominid DNA and planting the embryo Tiamut within Earth, King Bor defeating Malekith, Chthon penning the Darkhold, and Agamotto forming the Masters of the Mystic Arts.

Humanity’s ancient era features cataclysmic clashes between Atlantis and Lemuria, the emergence of the first mutant Apocalypse in Egypt, and the arrival of the Eternals to defend Earth from Deviants. Vibranium meteor strikes shape the hidden civilizations of Wakanda and Talokan. Ta Lo repels the Dweller-in-Darkness, the Phoenix Force destroys the D'Bari homeworld, K'un-Lun establishes the Iron Fist lineage, and early precursor societies begin shaping global trade.

During the classical and medieval eras, the birth and crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth establish Earth's calendar. Merlin and the Black Knight defend Camelot, while King Odin defeats the Frost Giants in Tønsberg, hiding the Tesseract on Earth and adopting Loki. Meanwhile, Xu Wenwu claims the Ten Rings, the Inhuman Hive is banished to Maveth (instigating the cult that becomes HYDRA), five defectors from K'un-Lun found the Hand, and Dracula initiates the main vampiric lineages.

As the modern era approaches, the Eternals defeat the last American Deviant and disband, Mayans form underwater Talokan, and Agatha Harkness absorbs her Salem coven. Mutant awakenings intensify: Victor Creed and James Howlett (Wolverine) are born, fleeing together after James's powers trigger in 1845 before fighting in the American Civil War. En Sabah Nur converts Nathaniel Essex into Mister Sinister, the Hellfire Club expands across America, and global industrial R&D lays the foundation for 20th-century super-soldier research.

Summary

1901 - 1950

Following the turn of the century, James Howlett (Wolverine) and Victor Creed (Sabretooth) fight as mercenaries in North American and Pacific conflicts. Cosmic and supernatural occurrences multiply: Mount Pelée’s eruption unleashes dormant Deviants, the Mind Stone crashes in Tunguska attracting Chitauri infiltrators, and the Inhumans' city of Attilan briefly loses its cloaking during Halley’s Comet. Meanwhile, the Hellfire Club acquires real estate after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and briefly secures the Darkhold. Howard Stark loses a Vibranium sample during the Titanic sinking, the Ten Rings destabilize pre-WWI global politics, and Dr. Herbert Wyndham initiates mutant experiments at Mount Wundagore. During WWI, Howlett and Creed serve on the Western Front, where Howlett's healing factor resists chemical warfare.

Global tensions foster covert technological and genetic programs. The Soviets establish the Darkstar Council and Project BESPREDEL to study Klyntar symbiote samples, Dr. Abraham Erskine formulates early Super-Soldier theory in Germany, and The Hand expands into Tokyo. Global crises enable major factions to consolidate power: the Hellfire Club acquires corporate assets during the Wall Street Crash, Madripoor becomes a mercenary sanctuary, and Johann Schmidt advances within Nazi R&D to found HYDRA. In Wakanda, King Azzuri defends Vibranium from early Nazi reconnaissance, while Howlett and Creed fight in the Spanish Civil War.

World War II accelerates super-soldier research. Schmidt transforms into Red Skull via an early serum, later stealing the Tesseract. Steve Rogers becomes Captain America, liberating Bucky Barnes and forming the Howling Commandos. Meanwhile, Canadian researchers experiment on Howlett, triggering global mutant gene activations. Post-war, Rogers is frozen in the Arctic, Barnes is converted into the Winter Soldier, and Howlett survives Nagasaki. In the aftermath, Peggy Carter and Howard Stark form S.H.I.E.L.D., unaware Arnim Zola is secretly infiltrating it with HYDRA. Finally, Canada establishes Department K/Weapon X, and early research lays the groundwork for Trask Industries.

1951 - 2000

The post-WWII era sees the births of key figures, including Erik Lensherr (1951), Charles Xavier (1953), Wade Wilson (1955), and Thor Odinson (1970). In 1958, Dr. Klaus Schmidt (Sebastian Shaw) conducts brutal magnetic experiments on young Erik, leading to the death of Erik's parents, the trigger of his powers, and the escape of James Howlett. Meanwhile, Hank Pym synthesizes Pym Particles to become S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Ant-Man. By 1970, Howard Stark constructs the subterranean Camp Lehigh vault for energy research and Vibranium storage.

In 1972, Arnim Zola digitizes his mind into Camp Lehigh’s mainframe, allowing HYDRA to secretly manipulate S.H.I.E.L.D. Major Stryker bonds adamantium to Logan at Alkali Lake in 1973, later conducting the 1979 Three Mile Island operation to harvest mutant DNA for Weapon XI before wiping Logan's memory. In 1980, Charles Xavier defeats the Shadow King on the Astral Plane, unknowingly leaving his infant son David infested by the entity.

Tensions peak in 1989 with the Hellfire Confrontation: Xavier and Lensherr unite Division X ("First Class") to defeat Shaw off the Cuban coast. Erik executes Shaw and deflects naval missiles, but an accidental gunshot paralyzes Xavier, causing their eventual ideological split into the X-Men and the Brotherhood. That same year, Carol Danvers gains cosmic powers from the Tesseract, and Hank Pym resigns from S.H.I.E.L.D.

In 1991, a brainwashed Winter Soldier assassinates Howard and Maria Stark. The Red Room deploys a sleeper cell to Ohio in 1992, and King T'Chaka kills Prince N'Jobu in Oakland. In 1995, nine-year-old Jean Grey's powers cause a fatal car crash, prompting Xavier to suppress her trauma, while Carol Danvers returns to Earth, inspiring Nick Fury’s "Avengers Initiative." By 2000, public awareness of mutants begins surfacing, and S.H.I.E.L.D. initiates covert tracking of enhanced individuals worldwide.

Summary

2001-2010

Following the 2001 terrorist attacks, global surveillance intensifies while new threats and heroes emerge. In Asia, Xu Wenwu reactivates the Ten Rings syndicate, and Danny Rand is rescued by monks in the Himalayas. Meanwhile, at the Xavier Institute, the original adolescent X-Men team forms under Professor X and Storm, clashing with Magneto’s Brotherhood. Over the next few years, the school expands with a junior class, defeats Bolivar Trask’s prototype Sentinel, and faces rising anti-mutant sentiment. Mesmero manipulates events to unleash Apocalypse, who transforms Xavier, Storm, Magneto, and Mystique into his Four Horsemen. The combined forces of the X-Men, Brotherhood, and Acolytes defeat Apocalypse and re-entomb him.

By 2005, Dr. Bruce Banner attempts to recreate the Super-Soldier Serum using gamma radiation at Culver University, triggering his initial transformation into the Hulk and forcing him into exile in Brazil. In 2008, Nick Fury becomes Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. That same year, weapons magnate Tony Stark is captured in Afghanistan by the Ten Rings. He builds the Mark I armor to escape, shuts down Stark Industries' weapons division, and designs the Mark II and III suits.

The era culminates in 2009 with major public clashes that introduce superheroics to the world. Rogue and Logan join the X-Men just as Magneto attempts to use a radiation machine at the Statue of Liberty to mutate world leaders. The X-Men defeat the Brotherhood and save Rogue, placing Magneto in a plastic prison while Logan sets out to uncover his past. Meanwhile, Tony Stark defeats Obadiah Stane's Iron Monger armor and publicly announces, "I am Iron Man." Clint Barton recruits Natasha Romanoff from the Red Room into S.H.I.E.L.D., while Ivan Vanko builds dynamic Arc Reactor whips to target Stark. Behind the scenes, Aldrich Killian begins human trials for Extremis, Darren Cross ousts Hank Pym from Pym Technologies, and Derek Bishop aligns with Wilson Fisk.

2011-2020

Following the 2012 alien invasion of New York, global superpowers and shadow organizations accelerate defensive contingency plans. Bolivar Trask's research and Alkali-Transigen's genetic programs receive clandestine funding to study enhanced threats. In 2013, Tony Stark defeats Aldrich Killian's Extremis plot and undergoes heart surgery, while Thor and Loki stop Malekith during the Convergence. S.H.I.E.L.D. collapses in 2014 when Captain America and Natasha Romanoff expose HYDRA's long-standing infiltration, leading to the public unsealing of legacy files. Concurrently, the X-Men face catastrophic events, including Jean Grey's transformation into the Phoenix, the raid on the mansion by William Stryker, and the tragic collapse of the Alkali Lake dam where Jean seemingly sacrifices herself.

The conflict escalates through 2015 and 2016. The Avengers accidentally spawn Ultron before defeating him in Sokovia, leading to the ratification of the Sokovia Accords and a bitter civil war among heroes. Concurrently, Transigen initiates the X-23 project, resulting in the birth of Laura. Mutants face severe societal threats with the announcement of a synthetic "cure" derived from Leech. In 2017, the X-Men defeat Magneto's Brotherhood during the Battle of Alcatraz, though Jean Grey's uncontrollable Phoenix power forces Logan to fatally stab her to save the world. Meanwhile, Thor loses Asgard during Ragnarök.

The era culminates in unimaginable devastation and disruption. In 2018, Thanos executes the Great Decimation, erasing half of all life across the universe while trapping Scott Lang in the Quantum Realm. Surviving heroes enter a bleak five-year gap of grief, isolation, and global reconstruction. By 2020, civilization fractures further under the combined trauma of the Blip and a global pandemic, which anti-mutant groups and conspiracy theorists exploit to scapegoat mutant gene instability, while Alkali-Transigen accelerates its covert clone research in total isolation.

2021–2030

The years 2021 through 2026 bring profound multiversal realignment, geopolitical upheaval, and a dramatic crisis for mutantkind. In 2021, Jean Grey’s resurrection triggers a catastrophic cosmic explosion at the Xavier Institute, causing her and Charles Xavier to vanish and leading to the X-Men's disbandment. The Mutant Response Division (MRD) steps into the power vacuum to round up mutants. However, Wolverine and Beast rally to rebuild, using Emma Frost's psychic abilities to recover Xavier from Genosha in 2022.

Global stability faces massive disruptions in 2023. Smart Hulk uses the Nano Gauntlet to reverse the Blip, culminating in Tony Stark's ultimate sacrifice to defeat Thanos. S.H.I.E.L.D. is officially refounded, while Wanda Maximoff creates and dismantles the Westview Hex. Concurrently, the X-Men battle the MRD and S.W.O.R.D., culminating in a fateful battle where Emma Frost sacrifices her diamond body to save the world and erase a dark, sentinel-ruled timeline.

The year 2024 features major multi-front conflicts: Sam Wilson claims the mantle of Captain America, the petrified corpse of the Celestial Tiamut emerges from the Indian Ocean, Shang-Chi claims the Ten Rings, and Doctor Strange navigates a multiversal portal crisis. In 2025, conflicts escalate with Wanda's Darkhold rampage, the God Butcher crisis, the Wakandan war against Namor's Talokan, and an attempted Skrull coup.

By 2026, international tensions flare over mining Adamantium from the Tiamut corpse, coinciding with Thaddeus Ross transforming into the Red Hulk and the heroic efforts of Sam Wilson and the Thunderbolts. Domestically, the situation for mutants reaches a boiling point on July 15 during a San Francisco peace rally ambushed by the Purifiers. The X-Men and Brotherhood uncover a dark conspiracy involving Cameron Hodge, Bastion, and human-mutant coalition leaders engineering gene-boosted Sentinels. Although the mutants destroy the enemy's mind-control broadcast array, the fierce battle leaves San Francisco a war zone, and both the X-Men and Brotherhood mysteriously vanish, leaving the global mutant population leaderless as the Mutant Underground fights to survive.
